Autumn term 1
Our theme this half term will be ‘Our World’. We will be sharing the story ‘Shackleton’s Journey’ written by William Grill in our Writing lessons along with other fictional stories about voyages. We will be working hard to focus on the composition of sentences and how to structure our writing.
Our Mathematics lessons will focus on exploring the numbers to a thousand. We will be learning how to represent these numbers in different ways using a range of mathematical equipment. We will also be learning how to add and subtract numbers to 1000 and learning how to record mathematical statements to match these calculations.
Our science lessons will be all about animals and humans. We will be learning how to identify animal types and their nutrition, and we will be looking at the human body, and the role of the skeleton and our muscles.
PE Lessons this half term will be focussing on agility and movement. We will be performing routines in gymnastics and learning the basic skills of netball.
Autumn term 2
Our theme this half term will be ‘Our World’.
We will be sharing the story ‘Charlotte’s Web’ by E.B White in our Writing lessons along with other fictional stories. We will be working hard to focus on the composition of sentences and how to structure our writing to create character and setting descriptions.
Our Mathematics lessons will continue to be focused on addition and subtraction using the column method and then moving on to multiplication and division where we will explore a formal written method for multiplication.
In Science we acquire new knowledge about forces and magnets with lots of practical, hands-on learning. Our Art lessons will be focused on William Morris and practicing line techniques and print.
In PE, we will continue developing our gymnastics routines and tactical skills for netball/basketball such as attacking and defending.
