1st Half Autumn Term:
As part of our Literacy lessons, we will be reading the story ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’ written by Joe Todd-Stanton. We will use this story to inspire our work which will include character descriptions and diary entries.
Our Mathematics lessons will be focusing on number and place value to 1,000,000. We will be learning how to represent these numbers in different ways using a range of mathematical equipment. We will also be learning how to add and subtract numbers to one million and learning how to record mathematical statements to match these calculations.
During our art lessons this half term, we will learn about the works of famous artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and will produce our own mountain landscapes inspired by his work.
Our Science lessons will be all about properties and changes of materials. We will be learning about reversible and irreversible changes, as well as how to categorise different materials based upon their properties.
Our PE days will be Monday and Thursday. On Mondays, we will be learning the rules of netball and applying them in a game. On Thursdays, we will be taking part in indoor athletic activities.
2nd Half Autumn Term:
In Literacy this half-term, we will be reading the story ‘There’s a Viking in my Bed’ written by Jeremy Strong. This story will be used to support our leaning of the Vikings in History. In our History, we will be learning about Britain’s settlement by Anglo-Saxons, Scots and the Viking Conflict
Our Mathematics lessons will be focusing multiplication and division, as well as fractions.
During our D&T lessons this half term, we will be completing our food unit. We will be making a delicious Viking stew.
For Science, we will continue our unit ‘’Properties and changes of materials’’.
Our PE days will be Monday and Thursday. On Mondays, we will be learning the rules of netball and applying them in a game. On Thursdays, we will be taking part in gymnastics activities.
