Year 4 - Spring Term First Half

During this half term, our Writing lessons will be focussed on the text ‘Perry Angel’s Suitcase’. The children will write diary entries, summarise chapters and develop their understanding of how language is used by writers to draw pictures in the reader's mind.

In humanities, we will focus on `The Ancient Maya’, with a focus on the Historical elements of this fascinating ancient culture. We will explore what life was like for the Mayans and how was it different to Roman Britain?

Our Mathematics will continue to develop the children’s understanding of multiplication and fractions. Times tables lessons will continue, helping the children rapidly recall all their times tables facts to 12 x 12. Supporting your child at home by encouraging them to develop the speed and accuracy of their recall of times tables and addition and subtraction facts to 20 would be greatly appreciated.

During Science, we will continue to study Sound before moving on to Electricity.

In PE we will be developing the children’s skills, knowledge and understanding of Hockey on a Monday afternoon and continue our Gymnastic work on a Wednesday.
