1st Half Autumn Term

During this half term, our Literacy lessons will be focussed on the text ` Escape from Pompei’. The children will write diary entries, newspaper reports and develop their understanding of how language is used by writers to draw pictures in the reader's mind. In humanities, we will focus on History and the Roman Empire. We will explore why the Romans invaded Britain and the impact this had. We will also explore why the Romans settled in Wroxeter which will be supported with a trip to Wroxeter.

In Mathematics we will be re-establishing the children’s basic knowledge of place value, basic methods for the addition, subtraction and multiplication and how to calculate the perimeter of simple rectilinear shapes.

Supporting your child at home by encouraging them to develop the speed and accuracy of their recall of times tables and addition and subtraction facts to 20 would be greatly appreciated.

During Science, we will study the different states that matter can take – solid, liquid and gas – and how different materials change from one state to another.

In PE we will be developing the children’s skills, knowledge and understanding of Netball on a Tuesday as well as Tag Rugby on a Wednesday.
