Year 1 parents were invited into school to learn more about Read Write Inc and the phonics screening test that takes place in Year 1 in May.
The presentation consisted of learning how to say sounds phonetically, and the research behind early reading. The children were then invited into the hall where they were able to have a biscuit and some juice and play a game with their adults. The feedback from the parents (and children) was fab! Parents expressed that they enjoyed being able to spend time with their children in school and would now feel more comfortable when teaching phonics on a one to one basis at home.
