William Reynolds Primary School and Nursery

As a part of our topic this term ‘Living and Growing’, Year 1 took part in a gardening day. The children spent the day expanding their knowledge of seeds and living things, and had the opportunity to plant an assortment of seeds and flowers in our learning environment and eco-garden.

The children also created some land art, using their knowledge of our artist this half term, Andy Goldsworthy. The children worked in small groups collecting natural materials such as pinecones, sticks, leaves and conkers and created their own land art.

Each child was also able to decorate their own plant pot and plant a daisy seed, which they took home at the end of the day and have been able to watch grow. We had a wonderful day gardening in and out of the rain!
